  1. After watching this video, I learned some of the events that lead up to the Civil War, like slavery, and how some slaves rebelled. Some of the things that made me think during this video were how slaves were separated from their families, and how horrible that would have been. Also, I noticed that when the US Marines came to take of the really small rebellion were led by Robert E Lee, and he I think he was the second General to take command of the entire Confederate forces.

  2. In the video I learned how bad slavery really was and that even if they got free their "masters" could go and get them leaglly. Also that people were so rebelus to freeing slaves they set houses on fire and there was a paper about it and a book. What made me think was why would some people want to treat slaves like that.

  3. What shocked me most about this video was when the mother was separated from her 2 little boys during the slave purchase. I could not imagine being separate from either of my parents or brothers and sister. I also learned that even if a slave thought they were "free", if they were found by their owners they could be taken back to the life of slavery. I thought the video was very interesting and I hope we will watch more of them!

  4. I was shocked when the slave owners took away the children of a slave, I found it heart breaking. I also agree with Tara, I had not known that even if you were a free slave that their masters could come and legally take them back to the plantation. I could never imagine treating another human being the way the Southerners did. I also wondered that if I was a white Southern in the time era of slavery would I have owned slaves? To think about it today I could never imagine owning slaves but back when it was common, who knows? What do you guys think? Would any of you own slaves back in the era when you thought it was "right."

  5. What shocked and surprised me most in this video was when that a man named John Brown was willing to kill people in order to free slavery. I think he was very risky yet very brave for doing that. Another thing that shocked me is the slave auctions. They didn't even treat the slaves as normal humans, more like animals! They even checked the slaves teeth! Responding to Lauren's post, I couldn't imagine owning slaves. Knowing myself, I wouldn't agree with the idea of slavery even if I lived in the times when slavery was thought to be normal. But that's just me.

  6. I learned alot from the video. I was very hocked to learn that free slaves could just be captured again. It was terrible of what would happen to slaves if they were caught escaping. Like Sonia and Lauren it is hard to believe that people thought this was normal and I couldn't see myself ever liking it.

  7. Well Sonia and Lauren, obviously you guys wouldn't think that you
would own slaves but it might be a harder decision than you think. If you had to do all you could to make money and owning slaves is what it would take then I'm sure you would have thought a little differently, I'm not saying that slavery is a good thing because it's most definitely not but these men needed to make money and slaves helped them make a lot more then they could by themselves. But the thing that bothers me the most is how these men treated the slaves, these African American men and women worked all day for these people and were treated like poop every single day. And it's not like the slaves had nowhere to live because their owners had food and shelter for them. I am not in any way saying that slavery is a good thing but put yourself in the white mens shoes they had so much to do and needed help.

  8. This video shocked me a lot. What shocked me was that the slave owners took away the children slavery and what did the sliave owner do to the slaveries when they caught escaping. The slave ownerws were so cruel to the slaveries and never thought out the slaveries'feeling. These slavery owners just wanted to get much benefit against their conscience. I think the slaveries should be free without being enslaved.
